About Me

I am an Assistant Professor of Reading Education at Kennesaw State University. I study how to help our teacher candidates (both pre-service and in-service) best learn in a way that allows them to meet the needs of all learners, in particular how to work with diverse students who are under-served by the standard curriculum. I also study marginalized students and students in rural parts of the state.

My teaching career began in rural Georgia and I was a high school Language Arts teacher for 8 years before moving into working with teacher educators.

My published chapters, co-authored text, and co-edited volume all aim to assist teachers as they work with marginalized students.

My most important job is that of "Mom" - I have two kind and wonderful children who are 7 and 4.
